leihwelt.deprogressive software development

Welcome

Hei fellow. You found the path to leihwelt...

This place is a private hobbyists site dedicated to software and game-development as well as topics related to it. The main purpose of this site is to serve as a platform to show references of my work.

Who am i?

My name is Marcus Körner and i am widely known under the alias "atla" on the net. I am from germany and live in the near area of Heidelberg, specifically in Nußloch.

I spend a lot of my time programming using C/C++, Java or something else that just pops up in my mind. Most of my projects i undertook in my spare time where gamedev related projects. I also enjoy reading and talking about related topics such as software-engineering and software-design. On a day to day basis i use LINUX (specifically ubuntu) as my personal choice of operating system.

Right now i am still a student at the Hochschule Mannheim (university of applied sciences) expecting to graduate in summer 2009. In the past i was also working in the professional software-development area for companies like yellowTAB GmbH and NEC Europe Netlab.

I also like spending time with my girl-friend and friends, watching movies and tv series or playing an occasional video game.

Why is it called "leihwelt"?

Leihwelt was the name of my first 2D RPG i wrote back in 2002 (well actually the second, but the first was not count worthy). I wrote this game during a game coding competition held by the IRC channel #game-develoeprs.net. Sadly i lost the code after some time due to hard disc crashes. Neither code nor binary are left of this little masterpiece. Maybe i redo a *simplistic* RPG like leihwelt sometime, not sure about it. But i keep telling myself one day ...

Well the website was orignally only about this RPG and thus called leihwelt. It had information about the NPCs and enemies, as well as items, that can be found in the game. The name just went along. That's it.
